  • Awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 1990.
  • Awarded a Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine (FACRRM) in 1998.
  • Awarded a Graduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine of the University of Otago Medical School (GradDipMuscMed) in 1998.
  • Awarded Certified Independent Medical Examiner (CIME) of the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners in 2005.
  • Registered with the Medical Board of Australia in the Specialty of General Practice since 2010.
  • Foundation Member of the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland (RDAQ).
  • Foundation Member of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA).

After graduation, Dr Craig spent 5 years training for rural general practice, before establishing private practice in Atherton, Far North Queensland. With his special interest in obstetrics, Dr Craig delivered over 300 babies over 5 years, in addition to running a busy, solo private practice seeing over 200 patients per week.

In 1989, Dr Craig took up an academic post with The University of Queensland teaching rural medicine to both undergraduates and postgraduates, while continuing clinical practice in the various private hospital Emergency Departments in Brisbane between 1989 and 2001. He has published 24 papers in rural medical education.

In 2001, Dr Craig retired from academia and medical politics to follow his interest in musculoskeletal medicine, which had grown since his days in solo rural practice.

He has practised full time in musculoskeletal medicine since 2001, initially in solo practice at Milton, then with Queensland Physical Medicine, Spring Hill for 3 years and now back in Milton and Southport.

 

Cristin Ponticello

Practice Manager

 

Cristin is an experienced practice manager, having worked with a number of busy general practices and specialists for over ten years.

Ensuring the practice is well-organised and compliant, Cristin’s compassion is also a key to her success, as it’s how she makes patients feel about their experience that is as important as their clinical care.

Cristin has assisted Dr Craig in the Back Doctor clinic to ensure it remains both highly-regarded by patients and the gold standard in clinical care for personalised spinal and musculoskeletal conditions.

Currently undertaking an MBA, Cristin has also studied practice management with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
